I’m currently teaching music at a DECYP High School here in Hobart, as well as maintaining the private teaching practice that has been ongoing now for over forty years. I’ve developed teaching programs and resources for students playing multiple instruments, music theory and of course specialising in teaching guitar. I hold a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music and am crazy good at it. I’ve had students over the years have gone on to have careers in music as well as many others for whom the guitar is an invaluable part of their lives.
Given my experience in schools I’ve become specialised in teaching beginner players, of all ages, as well of course as blues players at all levels, particularly slide players. I have a fully equipped teaching studio in West Hobart and a suite of resources that include:
- A complete program of guitar literacy and technique development, including notes and video examples.
- Resources for fingerstyle, faltpickers, electric and acoustic players.
- Practice diaries to record and document progress.
